Female Fertility Timeline – From Foetus to Menopause

A woman’s reproductive cycle begins long before she is born. During early foetal development, a female foetus with ovaries has around 6 million eggs (oocytes). By the time of birth, that number has already decreased to between 1 and 2 million eggs. This significant decrease happens because more than 10,000 eggs die each month before puberty.
